There have been ten generations of Americans since this nation was founded. …Each left this nation in a little better condition than they had inherited it from their parents.  This is the first generation at risk of doing the opposite. Why? I have come to believe that it is because we have failed to acknowledge and discipline ourselves with the spiritual truths that have made us great for these two hundred years-–faith, family, country, values. This book is about how one man thinks they may be restored and yet save this great civilization – from itself.

They don’t speak our language and they refuse to learn it. They take health care dollars away from our struggling seniors, our needy children and our deserving veterans. They clog up and sometimes even close down our hospital emergency rooms. They are the chief reason our schools are overcrowded. They make up almost a fifth of our prison system with each inmate costing our taxpayers more than $22,000 a year which could be going to someone’s college education. America has been invaded by a foreign country and Washington Doesn’t Care.

But while 9/11 woke up many to the cold hard facts of life, it also stirred the dormant but un-diminished ghosts of Vietnam. The same stroke that unleashed the war in Iraq let loose a host of demons from the past. It was as if the question “What is in the best interest of our nation during a time of war?” was never asked.

Civilization deserves protection and has earned the benefit of the doubt. We can not let barbarians use our civility and freedom to destroy civilization and liberty nor can we let the barbarian sack civilization simple because he knocks gently. This is difficult. Holding the course for freedom is hard. But with all I’ve learned from study, age, and experience, I believe, with every fiber of my body, that there comes a time when a civilization has to choose between good and evil, between freedom and tyranny.

Some role models! And not just the juicers in baseball. How about those horny hoopsters of the NBA whose moral compasses all point in the same direction and who have scattered fatherless babies from sea to shining sea.

Someone once said, and I’m sure we all agree, that if you want to change the world, you must begin with the children. It’s just as certain that, if you want to guarantee the downfall of a nation, you must begin with its young people. …Hidden behind the catchy alliterative lyrics of today’s rap artists is an industry that feeds off a group of entertainers whose lives are even sorrier than their songs. … I think there should be a freedom From this kind of speech. I believe that the filth being pounding into the brains of our children from those harmless looking CD players and the ever-present earphones that are growing out of our kid’s ears is ever bit as bad as shouting fire in a crowded theater. It carries freedom of speech to such an extreme that it is doing irreparable damage to the soul of this nation.
